How To Choose The Right Sports Bra

The right sports bra changes how a session feels. Get it wrong and you'll spend the workout adjusting. This guide explains support levels, when to use which, and how to size MILACTIVE bras.

Light support

Soft-cup, longline silhouettes for low-impact training — Pilates, yoga, mobility and rest days.

Medium support

Wider straps, contoured cups and underbust elastic for strength training, weighted carries and HIIT circuits.

High support

Bonded straps, racerback construction and compressive underbust for running, Olympic lifts and explosive work.

Lifting

For most lifting we recommend a medium-impact bra. If you train heavy compounds with longer ranges of motion, step up to high-impact.

Running

Always go high-support for running. Cadence and impact compound over distance — a bra that's fine at 5K can be uncomfortable at 10K.

Pilates

Light or medium support is usually enough. Look for soft cups and a clean longline silhouette for Reformer work.

Sizing

We size in UK XS–XXL. If you're between sizes, size up for comfort, down for support.

Care

Wash cold, dry on low. Hand-wash is gentlest. Never tumble dry on high — the elastic loses memory.

Frequently asked questions

Medium for most lifters. High if you train explosive compounds or sport.

Short distances yes, long distances no. Long-distance running really needs a high-support bra.
