How To Choose The Best Gym Leggings
Picking the right pair of leggings is the difference between a session you forget about your kit and one you spend adjusting. This guide walks through everything that matters — and how MILACTIVE leggings are engineered against each.
Squat proof leggings
Squat proof means the fabric stays opaque at the bottom of a deep squat — no sheer-out, no see-through panels. The two biggest variables are knit density and stretch return. MILACTIVE uses a high-density opaque knit with engineered four-way stretch so the fabric recovers shape between reps.
Seamless vs panelled
Seamless leggings are knitted as one piece — fewer pressure points, smoother under tighter tops. Panelled leggings let us target compression: more around the waist and quads, less behind the knee. Choose seamless for Pilates and stretch; choose panelled for heavy lifts and hybrid training.
Compression
Compression isn't about being tight — it's about controlled pressure. Our leggings sit in the light-to-medium range: enough to support and shape, not so much that you can't breathe at the bottom of a squat.
Waistband fit
We use wide, brushed-knit waistbands designed to stay put through hinge work, supine Pilates and running cadence. Drawcord styles let you fine-tune the fit if you sit between sizes.
Length & rise
High-rise covers the lower back through deadlifts and squats. Standard-length sits at the ankle bone; 7/8 length runs slightly above. Choose 7/8 if you train barefoot or in low-top trainers, full length if you prefer coverage.
Best leggings by activity
For lifting: heavyweight, opaque, high-compression panelled styles. For running: lightweight, wicking, mid-compression. For Pilates and yoga: high-rise seamless with a brushed waistband. For everyday: any of the above — these aren't rules, they're starting points.
Common fit questions
If you're between sizes, size up for comfort and down for compression. If the waistband is rolling, you usually need to go up. If the legging is digging behind the knee, you usually need to go down.
